~ So i thought, okay, cool. Actual photographic evidence of climate change, that would be a start i suppose. But when you look at the photos, you find:

- Photo essay on Darfur - this war was primarily religious in nature. Scarcity played a part but this is due to an increase in population, not climate change.



- A look at Reindeer herders in Yamal: %26quot;the Nenet’s traditional way of life is threatened by warming temperatures %26quot; ~ in other words, something might happen in the future, but nothing now.



- photos of deforestation in Brazil (again, maybe cause, how can it be an effect?)



- photos of tar sands in Canada (ditto: possible cause, not an effect)



- photos of the Maldives - says %26quot; Experts predict that within the next 15 years rising sea levels will force the island’s 396,000 residents to migrate elsewhere.%26quot; - so again, prediction, not evidence.



- photos of burning coalfields in India (possibly a cause, but how is this an effect of global warming?

So, basically, what is billed as a collection of photographs that [quote] %26quot;%26quot;documents the devastating effects of climate change%26quot; turns out to be nothing of the sort. It's merely a collection of photos that show common environmental tropes - pollution, deforestation, etc, none of which can possibly be claimed as %26quot;effects%26quot; of global warming and some vague allusions to what might happen in the future.



Don't you think that this collection of photos - shown to world leaders as proof of man-made global warming - is a classic example of the fundamental dishonesty surrounding climate change? When you look for proof and for evidence, all you end up with are assumptions and correlations jumbled together with vague threats of an apocalyptic future.

Maybe. Although you really don't seem to be looking for an answer, this just seems like an epic rant.
Nope. And global warming science is NOT dishonest. Courts have upheld it EVERY time it's been challenged.



This is utter trivia. Such is the state of denier %26quot;arguments%26quot; these days, since science has debunked their more serious attempts at challenging global warming science.



A bunch of pictures is not why virtually all world leaders are committed to fighting global warming, even if they're having some problems agreeing on a specific plan.



And arguments like these may play well to the choir of global warming deniers, but they have no effect on serious professionals.

If you want to after fundamental dishonesty you might start with the people that claim that CO2 added to water makes it more basic...or that volcanoes give off more CO2 every year than humans....or that there haven't been any strong hurricanes since Katrina....or that the name of global warming was changed to climate change because it's no longer getting warmer...or with those that steal emails...or with those that plagiarize...
Icarus, Its seems that nothing that is said, EVER detracts from the %26quot;massive%26quot; amount of evidence. But what is that massive amount of evidence? For a .74 degree rise in the last 100 years, you have that (though I think their data collection and processing is atrocious). Although of the .74 degree in increase you should at least admit that almost half of it came before man could have had any impact at all. For a 2-3 mm/ year rise in sea level, you may have sufficient evidence. For CO2 beinga greenhouse gas that by itself can cause %26lt;1 degree of warming if CO2 doubles, you have sufficient evidence.



It is your predictions that lack all evidence. The magnitude of the positive and negative feedback loops in the models were little more than guesses. Do you have scientific experimentation or observations that shows these magnitudes to be correct? It could very well be the negatvie feedbacks rule the earth and thus any changes caused by CO2 will be limited by the negative feedbacks. It certainly makes sense given the relative stability of the earth's climate. So lets look at observational data to determine if the models are correct. Mann admitted that there has been no statistically significant warming in the past 15 years. Does that sound like what the models predicted? Does it sound like exponential warming? Since the models do not seem to be doing a good job of predicting, could it be that the reason for the poor predictive ability is that they are either overestimating the positive feedbacks or underestimating the negative feedbacks? Could it be that there were indeed a few factors that the scientists had not considered or lack the data to consider, thus when they placed the entirety of the portion that they did not understand onto the positive feedbacks loops, they grossly overestimated them?



If you think that I am being unreasonabl, than at least be reasonable enough to provide rationale. Saying a bunch of scientists said so, is not really enough. A bunch of scientists have been wrong in the past. In fact one could argue that a bunch of scientists are quite frequently wrong as every new discovery usually goes against what they thought.





Pegminer, at one time you made some infrequent astute comments, now they seemed to have dwindled down to never. Even given the silly rants of .07 ph change in 250 years, you go on board with whatever new thing the alarmunists want to try to scare people with. You don't even seem capable of acknowledging the fact that while there is evidence to support some warming, there is very little evidence for any of end of the owrld predictions made.

The thing is though, even if everything you say about this exhibition is completely true, it doesn't detract in the slightest from the mass of evidence that the world *is* actually warming, and nor does it challenge the honesty and integrity of the many hundreds of climate scientists around the world who are monitoring and reporting on our changing climate.

Do you beleive that PR/ Advertising motives control the world? Think about it...How many advertisements do we see or hear every day? (the number is in the thousands). How many companies have PR positions. Think of the White House and their photo ops, and their speeches. How much of our society is aimed at forming and changing the opinions of the masses? While you do not want to out and out accuse him of cheating, you should never ignore that gut feeling. Just realize it could be nothing more than your insecurities. I truly think you should just talk to him. Flat Out ask him if he's happy with you. If he has not updated his profile, don't even bring that up. He may have just not bothered to take it off. It hurts too much to just worry and wonder so just talk to him. Be careful not to sound petty, needy and suspicious. Be honest and tell him why you need to talk to him about your feelings if he asks why. He can not fix what he doesn't know.

World of Warcraft Account Stolen! What do I do?

2 hours ago my WoW account was stolen. I just woke up 5 minuets ago and went to check my email and there was one in my inbox saying my password has been changed.



I proceeded to attempt to log into my account but when I tried it asked me for an authenticator which I have never added to my account.



Blizzard opens it's phone lines in 3 hours and I will be giving them a call but is there anything else I can do?



What if they ask me to fax in photo ID? I live in the middle of the Canadian wilderness and it would be almost impossible for me to get access to a fax machine.



I do have all the box cases and activation keys from all the expansions and the game it's self. Do you think that would be enough?



I have put well over $1000 into this account I don't want to lose it. Anyone have tips?

There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now. The regions destined to feel its impact are the great wheat-producing lands of Canada and the U.S.S.R. in the North, along with a number of marginally self-sufficient tropical areas – parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indochina and Indonesia – where the growing season is dependent upon the rains brought by the monsoon.



The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it. In England, farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950, with a resultant overall loss in grain production estimated at up to 100,000 tons annually. During the same time, the average temperature around the equator has risen by a fraction of a degree – a fraction that in some areas can mean drought and desolation. Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars' worth of damage in 13 U.S. states.



To scientists, these seemingly disparate incidents represent the advance signs of fundamental changes in the world's weather. Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic. “A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale,” warns a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences, “because the global patterns of food production and population that have evolved are implicitly dependent on the climate of the present century.”



A survey completed last year by Dr. Murray Mitchell of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reveals a drop of half a degree in average ground temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere between 1945 and 1968. According to George Kukla of Columbia University, satellite photos indicated a sudden, large increase in Northern Hemisphere snow cover in the winter of 1971-72. And a study released last month by two NOAA scientists notes that the amount of sunshine reaching the ground in the continental U.S. diminished by 1.3% between 1964 and 1972.



To the layman, the relatively small changes in temperature and sunshine can be highly misleading. Reid Bryson of the University of Wisconsin points out that the Earth’s average temperature during the great Ice Ages was only about seven degrees lower than during its warmest eras – and that the present decline has taken the planet about a sixth of the way toward the Ice Age average. Others regard the cooling as a reversion to the “little ice age” conditions that brought bitter winters to much of Europe and northern America between 1600 and 1900 – years when the Thames used to freeze so solidly that Londoners roasted oxen on the ice and when iceboats sailed the Hudson River almost as far south as New York City.



Just what causes the onset of major and minor ice ages remains a mystery. “Our knowledge of the mechanisms of climatic change is at least as fragmentary as our data,” concedes the National Academy of Sciences report. “Not only are the basic scientific questions largely unanswered, but in many cases we do not yet know enough to pose the key questions.”



Meteorologists think that they can forecast the short-term results of the return to the norm of the last century. They begin by noting the slight drop in overall temperature that produces large numbers of pressure centers in the upper atmosphere. These break up the smooth flow of westerly winds over temperate areas. The stagnant air produced in this way causes an increase in extremes of local weather such as droughts, floods, extended dry spells, long freezes, delayed monsoons and even local temperature increases – all of which have a direct impact on food supplies.



“The world’s food-producing system,” warns Dr. James D. McQuigg of NOAA’s Center for Climatic and Environmental Assessment, “is much more sensitive to the weather variable than it was even five years ago.” Furthermore, the growth of world population and creation of new national boundaries make it impossible for starving peoples to migrate from their devastated fields, as they did during past famines.



Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve. But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.

Yes, I have read it, and from what I understand that was a generally accepted %26quot;scientific fact%26quot; at the time. Everyone was being warned about the coming ice age.

Dream About Turning Into Wolf, School, End of World, etc?

Don鈥檛 know what order they were in - but trying to become more of a lucid dreamer and wanted to know what this meant:



1. Me, my sister, two cousins, and three other ppl who are distantly related to me are spending the night at my grandmother鈥檚 house (my two cousins did spend the night at our house this night/the three other ppl who are distant relatives came over for thanksgiving). The house was huge, but it wasn鈥檛 my grandmother鈥檚 house. Also - at one point she came out of a hall and spoke to us. anyways- I was in the basement and the kids were up on the main floor in front of the big screen TV playing guitar hero (funny- they slept downstairs where my bedroom is in front of the large TV playing guitar hero) I was in the basement with some guy friends (ima girl) and one of them who I have no idea who it was made me angry and he stormed out of the house. Later all the guys, except one close friend I knew, left. At some point I was on a computer too. later, I saw that it was 4 o鈥檆lock in the morning and my sister and family were still playing guitar hero, and I turned it off (I did the same thing that night - they were playing till 3) I was angry at them and the guy, and so the group of guys I was hanging with and I are a pack of humans who can change into wolves. I changed into a wolf and for two nights stayed as one hunting down the guy that made me made. All the while my guy friend (whom I know) stayed with me. I was in a lush forest that was by the house for those nights. After that, we decided to go to home depot (??) to find a way so that when I become angry I won鈥檛 change into a wolf as fast. We find out a way b/c I dipped wax paper in water and it stayed cool? (Something like that) but we later decided to leave the guy alone (as a wolf it was very calming and relaxing- my guy friend was with me the entire time)



2. so a friend was dropping me and another friend off at our houses after a long night (don鈥檛 remember what we did) we first go to her house to see her new puppy (which she in real life did get about a week ago) and so we go into her house (which wasn鈥檛 her house) and her mother was standing in the kitchen with the puppy in a kennel, but instead of it being the golden retriever puppy it was a dark mutt



3. My mom, sister again, and I are at some event which involve stands and I think cars? And so we were going to go to the bathroom and then leave - when we go to the bathroom (by car) ppl are passing out flyers

Saying the world is going to end. I see the white gas that is supposed to kill us and tell my mom we need to go to the dome. (The white dome is where I used to play volleyball at) so we drive there quickly and when we get inside ppl had lost of clothing and stuff to stay alive with.



4. This is for sure the last dream before I woke up and then went back to sleep. I am in India with tyra banks and an India child. We are having a photo shoot on top of the buildings, and tyra wants me to jump from building to building to get a cool shot. But it is too far, says the kid. But the kid finds a poll that is to the side that鈥檒l make it look like im jumping. But I ended up taking pictures of me and tyra. She says I smelt like a boy (and my friend told me that two days ago)



5. (Sort of lucid dream)

I鈥檓 at my school in silent study with my world history teacher who is making us laugh. I get up and take a shower by the door with my clothes on. When I sit back down I accidentally take a freshman鈥檚 book along with mine. I give it back to her - she has dark hair with blue highlights. I took her twilight book, and inside she had a lot of markings and footnotes. After the bell rung I went outside to say hi to some friends- the inside of the schools are different though. (We have 3 buildings at our school) and so when I come out of one building after talking, one of the ppl in my carpool comes up to me and says are you ready? I said no I need to get my books! I run and she says why do you run?? ( speaking about cross country, which I just joined this year) and as im running, huge dark clouds are rolling in. also, as im running I start off really fast, and then go into a slow mode but when I try to go faster I cant! (I鈥檝e had this happen in my dreams ALL the time...) (Also the quad is unusually lush and green) I finally make it to the other building, and inside all the lights are off and candles are the only lights. So I walk in and it鈥檚 very old fashioned church/scary inside. I fall to the ground b/c im wet, but I don鈥檛 remember getting rained on? I don鈥檛 want to get up b/c im scared, but then the president of our school helps me up and leads me to the auditorium. our conversation was about me and how freshman year I was about to go somewhere else (which is true) and how I participate in a lot of school activities (which is also true) when she leads me to the place, a line of food w/teahcers getting some greet me. Also, someone who bugs me a lot is there and babbling about her self as usual

You have problems controlling your temper, especially when you lose. You have a friend that is the same way, but never gets angry at you.

2.

Your envy comes out dark as you wish you had a puppy too, and make her puppy not so special. Hehehe.

3. You may feel as though your relationship with your aunt is deteriorating. This may be caused by a sudden change in life events, or your way of living.

4. You feel as though you have to go beyond your limits to impress your friends, but still that effort fails you.

Repute at stake- you jumping from building.

5. First part, where you take a shower in study hall, and laugh it up, means you feel comfortable there the most, and always are happy in that class.

Second part of you slow running is your brain telling you, that you have nothing to fear, so slow down a little in life. You are rushing ahead too quickly.

Third part, :)

Ummm...you feel as though your experiences are changing, and you wish your way of living went back to its previous state.

What would be a good way to add onto my tattoo?

I got a tattoo on my shoulder blade that is fairly large. I really want to add onto it. I wanted to put %26quot;Nothing's going to change my world%26quot; somewhere around it. One of my friends told me that if you get words in a circle they distort more easily? Is that true? I also wanted to maybe put a branch with cherry blossoms near it.

Combined Led Zep had great technical ability,

But Zero creative ability.

To name a few Syd Barret, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Joan Baez, Jake Holmes, John Lee Hooker and many more.
What a shame. And people on here are always talking about how great they are. They couldn't even write their own songs, lol. All modern bands I listen to write their own lyrics. Very interesting.
Interesting read.. Personally, I have never heard any other music that sounds remotely like Led Zeppelin. Though, there is no doubt they were inspired by other songs and artists, all artists are. I would like to actually hear the songs they supposedly %26quot;stole%26quot; before I pass further judgment. Until then, Led Zeppelin is still the best in my book.

I always hear people ranting about how Led Zeppelin stole every song they wrote. They did take some songs from old bluesman and folk singers, but really only on their first two albums. They have released eight. Even the legendary bands/artists have flaws, including: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Who.

Gee so let's stone every artist who has ever covered a song from another artist or group....let's start with Sinatra...and then go through just about every great band or artist...and we would have no record industry. Folks cover songs because they move them and they are trying to pay homeage. The record industry loves it because it is a chance to make more money off a proven song...and while your at it, why don't we start getting rid of directors and actors who do remakes and fail to live up the the original or classic version of the story...we can get ride of Hollywood at the same time...oh wait...you would be repeating something yourself....

Now that Clinton's death-defying wins in Texas and Ohio have prolonged the contest and slowed Obama's momentum among party poobahs, there's a bigger story to watch: an increasing willingness among superdelegates to band together and seek concessions from the presidential candidates in return for votes at the convention. Last night, the Politico reported that bloc of uncommitted Ohio supers--perhaps including Reps. March Kaptur, Dennis Kucinich, Tim Ryan, Zack Space, Betty Sutton and Charlie Wilson, and Sen. Sherrod Brown--is %26quot;withholding endorsements from Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton until one or the other offers a concrete proposal to protect American jobs,%26quot; according to two state Democrats.

Keating Five



The Keating Five (or Keating Five Scandal) refers to a Congressional scandal related to the collapse of most of the Savings and Loan institutions in the United States in the late 1980s.



Following the deregulation of the banking industry in the 1980s, savings and loan associations (also known as thrifts) were given the flexibility to invest their depositors' funds in commercial real estate. (Previously, they had been restricted to investing in residential real estate.) Many savings and loan associations began making risky investments. As a result, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the federal agency that regulates the industry, tried to clamp down on the trend. In so doing, however, the FHLBB clashed with the Reagan administration, whose policy was deregulation of many industries, including the thrift industry. The administration declined to submit budgets to Congress that would request more funding for the FHLBB's regulatory efforts.



In 1989, the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, Calif., collapsed. Lincoln's chairman, Charles H. Keating Jr., was faulted for the thrift's failure. Keating, however, told the House Banking Committee that the FHLBB and its former chief Edwin J. Gray were pursuing a vendetta against him. Gray testified that several U.S. senators had approached him and requested that he ease off on the Lincoln investigation. It came out that these senators had been beneficiaries of $1.3 million (collective total) in campaign contributions from Keating.



This allegation set off a series of investigations by the California government, the United States Department of Justice, and the Senate Ethics Committee. The ethics committee's investigation focused on five senators: Alan Cranston (D-CA); Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ); John Glenn (D-OH); John McCain (R-AZ); and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (D-MI), who became known as the Keating Five.



After months of testimony revealed that all five senators acted improperly to differing degrees, the senators continually said they were following the status quo of campaign funding practices. In August 1991, the committee concluded that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle's conduct constituted substantial interference with the FHLBB's enforcement efforts and that they had done so at the behest of Charles Keating. The committee recommended censure for Cranston and criticized the other four for %26quot;questionable conduct.%26quot;



As it happened, Cranston, who was nearly 80 years of age, had already decided not to run for re-election in 1992. DeConcini and Riegle continued to serve in the Senate until their terms expired, but they did not seek re-election in 1994. DeConcini was appointed by President Bill Clinton in February, 1995 to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. [1]



Glenn did choose to run for re-election in 1992 and it was anticipated that he would have some difficulty winning a fourth term in the Senate. However, Glenn handily defeated Lieutenant Governor R. Michael DeWine for one more term in the Senate before retiring in 1999.



The scandal was followed by a number of attempts to adopt campaign finance reform鈥攕pearheaded by U.S. Sen. David Boren (D-OK)鈥攂ut most attempts died in committee. A weakened reform was passed in 1993. Substantial campaign finance reform was not passed until the adoption of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002.



The only member of the Keating Five still in the U.S. Senate is John McCain.



John McCain was forced to re-invent himself as a campaign reformer in order to keep his seat in the Senate. Now he鈥檚 running for President, the biggest lobbyist haven of all.

Kamal Karna Roy (a/k/a Kamal K.K. Roy, a/k/a Rev. Dr. Joseph Geronimo, Jr.) is a prolific pro se litigant who, since at least the early 1990s, has filed numerous lawsuits throughout the United States and its territories under the names Roy and Joseph Geronimo, Jr., as well as under the names of entities that he is affiliated with, including International Siva Consciousness %26amp; World Religions, Reforms International, Handicap Interests International, and Jungle Democracy.[1] Roy's lawsuits are often brought against multiple defendants, and feature long, unconventional complaints. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].



Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and %26quot;failure of democratic societies and God's role therein.%26quot;[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:



Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]



The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court %26quot;strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served.%26quot;[7]



Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as %26quot;no stranger to litigation%26quot; and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]



Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]



In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]



In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against %26quot;Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission%26quot;. See Dkt. 3:07-cv-00994-VMC-HTS.
